But, alas, 2011 has crept up on us and Addison has had ZERO interest in going on the potty. So, in order to encourage her along, I've been telling her we'd go to the store and pick out big girl underwear.
Last night we went to the store and as we walked up to the underwear section, I immediately knew we had a problem. The boys and girls underwear was hanging side by side.
Addison is the polar opposite of Delaney in almost every way. At 2, Delaney loved anything pink. At 2, Addison loves anything blue. Delaney loved princesses, dolls and dress up. Addie loves trains, Mickey and Cars (the movie). So, as we approach the underwear, it occurred to me...she is going to pick boy underwear!
Sure enough...
So, we are now the proud owners of boy underwear for our little girl. Who am I to burst her bubble? I do wonder how the preschool teachers will talk when it's potty time at school...

Hey Kelli,
Just thought I'd stop in and see how you're doing. I laughed so hard at this post. I can totally relate- my oldest son loves pink. I'm sure that Addie in her Thomas underwear will be in blissful ignorance of the social rules she is defying! I hope they do their job for you in the motivation department!
I also loved your Christmas gift sacs in the post before it.
One of these days we're going to visit Chicago and I hope we'll get to see you. Let me know next time you're in NC.
Happy New Year!
that is so funny! if it makes you feel any better, our little emery (and i think i remember your mom telling me that addison and emery were just a month apart in age) also has ZERO interest in the toilet. we had the same issue with kendall when she was this age and one day (a few weeks after she turned 3) she just decided she wanted to do it and then was completely trained (not even pull-ups at night) in just a couple days! here's hoping that once emery and addison decide to do it, it will be quick!
Dad and I are sitting here laughing so hard at this! Way to go Addie and kudos to you Kell for not making her choose 'girl' underwear. Don't know that I could have done it!
That's hilarious! And, if it makes you feel any better in regards to the training.... T, who as you know is her exact same age, also has ZERO interest. We're still going strong in the diaper department!
That is hilarious!! I think I might have the same problem with Adelaide, who absolutely loves everything trains and cars related! I love that you went with it!!
hey Kel - It has been forever! I don't know why I click on your blog tonight but this was funny...Olivia loves Thomas - has 2 t-shirts that she talked my Mom into buying - hates pink - now loves purple though. Cars is good but toy story 3 is favorits. Just got to go with it and LAUGH - she is so cute! I warned you..it's the 3rd one that puts you over the edge - go for 4..how bad could it be! :)
