V Day!

So, I jumped right on that bloggy bandwagon that all the cool kids are riding and made homemade Valentines. The same ones I've seen all over, but more specifically at Tiffany and Monique's blogs. Theirs are cuter than mine, but why strive for perfection when mediocre is good enough?

I'm just lucky I figured out how to add text to a photograph without having to ask Jeff once to help. In any case, the kids had fun doing them and had fun passing them out today.

Valentines presents were ready after school today. I got home from Utah last night and decided it was more fun cuddling up to Jeff in bed than getting Valentines together. So, after school it was. I've gotten the kids heart shaped balloons every year for the past few years and it's become a tradition. I realized this year that Jackson doesn't care about getting a balloon anymore and it makes me a little sad. Sad that he's getting to where he doesn't care about balloons.

For the record, they each got heart-shaped boxes of chocolate. Jackson got a cool Lego book I hadn't seen before. The girls both got Valentines Webkin Monkeys.

Don't you love our fancy floor coverings? It's plywood that's guaranteed to give you a sliver at the thought of walking on it barefoot. We have new carpet being installed tomorrow. I can't wait! We've had cheap-o builder grade carpet for the past 6 years and it looked twice that old. We're not getting anything too fancy... just a little darker, thicker, and softer!!

I made the girls these skirts. Steph and I saw the fabric when we were in Utah for Christmas and were instantly smitten with the dark brown/large rose fabric. She'd made a few cute skirts for Abby out of a fun pattern so I decided to copy her and I love them. My mom helped me finish them last weekend because I am officially the WORST person at gathering. So, her almost-degree in Clothing & Textiles came in handy and she saved the skirts from certain disaster. Check out my cutie-pie niece in hers (of course, Steph finished weeks ago)!

****For any family and friends in Utah - I'm sorry I didn't call when I was there last weekend. It was a quick weekend trip to help my mom. We did lots of organizing, purging, stockpiling and a little sewing. It was a business trip and there wasn't a lot of time for visiting. The only people we saw other than each other were two cousins who, I have a feeling, only stopped by for the free meal :). In any case, I love you all and am looking forward to a long visit this summer with lots of time to see everyone. Please don't be mad I was in your neck of the woods and didn't call!

Hey now! Rude. I so came because I didn't want to break poor Delaney's heart. Oh, and I guess I like you, too. :) But really, I feel honored!

The skirts are so darling! I really wanted to copy your balloon idea, but I couldn't get them last night because it was Sunday and well, going with the kids would have ruined the surprise! And yay for new carpet! I didn't know you guys are doing that--so, so fun!
