There are probably holiday purists out there who are frustrated with cross-promotion across holidays. Peeps are no longer just an
Easter treat. You can find them for Valentines, Halloween and Christmas, too. Candy corn now comes in Christmas colors, too. So, when I first saw the Haunted House Gingerbread House a few years ago, I turned up my nose. Gingerbread is for Christmas. Period. Well, the other day I was at Joann's and they had kits for the haunted house ones, and I
succumbed when thinking I could do it as a
FHE activity. Of course, I'd like you to think we had a lesson, songs and prayer as well that night, but let's be real - this thing took up the whole night:

As you can see, even though I followed the directions precisely, the frosting still was drippy, but Jackson and Delaney had a blast. Here they are, working away:
And then posing with their scariest faces:

And now, here it sits, on the dining room table, on the table runner I finally finished. I had it all done last Halloween, except for hand sewing the binding. And well, most know how my last year has been, so I didn't get to it until a few weeks ago.

Kelli, you are so talented!! Can you please come over for a couple of weeks and teach me to quilt/sew/craft/be you?! I love the table runner and I think the gingerbread house turned out really well. I am SO happy you started a blog too! Looking forward to hearing about your family adventures - I have been saying to Steph for a while that you need to have a blog!
Kelli, I love the blogosphere, too. And I learned a new term from you. Apparently I too am a blog-stalker. I have my friends' and family's blogs bookmarked and check them out occasionally to keep up with everyone. Chuck keeps telling me I am a wanna-be blogger. Your kids are adorable! Love the haunted gingerbread house and the table runner! You inspire me. If you're ever down in NC again, let me know. It would be awesome to catch up. We are getting OLD. I have memories of us in Kindergarten- and we both have kids older than that. Crazy!!
I too have never succumbed to the Halloween gingerbread house...but that is pretty cute. FHE is highly overated, and I think I am too old, but Alli would probably love it!
Wow Kel - it's so cute! And I love the table runner - I need to even start mine. Hopefully by next Halloween.
I love the thinking behind the Halloween gingerbread house. I totally agree! Just for Christmas! Until the kids see it and then, of course, you've got to do it. Yours turned out great. Your kids must have your talent for crafts! I love it! We can't wait to see you in a few weeks!
CUTE fhe idea. Yeah, I need to finish my Halloween runner that I started last...oh wait! Nope, don't got a runner I started for halloween, or christmas, or ever! I love how you whip crafy stuff like this out all the time. You are awesome.
Kelli--I just got off the phone with your mom (who is THE sweetest person on the planet) and couldn't wait to check out your blog. I love your writing voice! So witty and real. What darling kids you have! Count me in as one of your official blog stalkers!!:)
Fondly,
Adrianne Coleman
