Let's talk talents. One talent I definately lack in, but appreciate in others, is entertaining/cooking. I have many aunties, sisters, sister-in-laws, mothers, and friends who excel in this useful area. So, all you talented people (or if you don't posess this talent, I still need a response), I need your opinion.
We're having an Elders Quorum social at our house on Saturday evening. Lots of people are bringing soups, and then Jeff and I are doing Mom's rolls, and more people are bringing desserts. My question is, should I do a salad too? I think I know that I should, but Jeff says no. I think he says that just because he doesn't want to have to worry about it. Yes, it would be more work, but not too much more. I'm starting to think that soup, salad, rolls and dessert sounds like a better dinner than soup, rolls and dessert. Do you agree? If you were me, would you do it too?
As an incentive to get people to weigh in on this important decision, if I get enough votes, I will post the recipe of said salad. Why would this be motivation for you? Because, it is Hillary's/Donna's salad recipe and every time I make it, people go back for 2nds, 3rds and there is never any left. But it is simple and makes tons, so that's why it's perfect for this weekend. So, there's your bribe for helping out. Let the voting commence - salad or no salad?

For sure, Salad. Not that I'm an expert but I think you should do it, especially if it's easy. I'm excited for the recipe. I'm trying to dig up your phone number so we can chat. If you don't hear from me in the next day or two, email it to me!!
Yeah, a nice big salad would definitely add a certain "freshness" to the menu. You are so nice to be having this shindig at your house. That's quite the event!
I totally think you should do a salad too! It will make it more of a meal. I'd do a salad too. Plus, you can chop everything the day before even and have it all ready to toss. It's not more work that has to be done 10 minutes before everyone gets to your house. So I vote YES.
Salad....I want to see this recipe.
Do a salad. It's better to have a little more and variety, than not enough. Todd could never fill up on soup and bread alone.
Ummm.... you know the Lewis' are not talented in that area... but I would still say Salad....
and while we are at gathering opinions... Kelli would you go to this site and give me your opinion....I am trying to come up with a new website front page, and struggling... I know you have a good eye for that kind of thing, and I'd love to hear your ideas

Most husbands want to keep things S-I-M-P-L-E because they don't want to add to their wife's stress. If you are harried, nix the salad. It would still be a fun party without it.
BUT if you aren't feeling stressed, definitely add the salad. Especially such a yummy sounding salad that has all of your readers dying to get the recipe!:)
well, if it's simple, then why not? i say go for it if it's not too much extra effort since obviously everyone loves it!
Yes! Make the salad!
Well, I guess if I said no, then I wouldn't be able to eat it at the social (yes, folks, I am lucky enough to get to attend this affair!).
If it's the "Bunco Salad" hands down you'd know I'd love it and everyone else. And by the way, you are a fabulous hostess-- one I aspire to be like. Don't take that I spaced bunco in Sept. personally. I really did want your cooking! AND your hostessing. Your home has such a cozy atmosphere and you never act busy, flustered our out of your element when you entertain guests. How about after your parenting book, you write an entertainment guide?
So, here's the compromise--- you divvy out more of what you are already making to---ME so that makes you and Jeff happy! I'm bringing a soup already. I can double it (good neighbor barb has an extra crock pot) and I can bring some desserts, too.
I'll call you!
Salad for purely selfish reasons - I need that recipe! In fact I have a section in my recipes of "Kelli Clark's recipes." They include mint brownies, rice pilaf, chicken noodle soup with egg noodles, and even more!
i vote for the salad, too...for what it's worth!
definetly salad, it does sound like a more appealing dinner.
salad....
Of course you should make the famous Donna/Hillary salad it's always a hit at any party. I just made it for a party last week and have already had to give out the recipe out twice. Good luck with the party.
Hillary,
I was just going to email you to see if it was okay that I post your recipe. I assume it's okay??
YES, I would say salad. Soup, rolls, and desert are just to many carbs. You need to balance it out with some green!! By the way, I have to tell you that it is Sunday afternoon and we just finished eating your sweedish pancakes! They were delicious!!! Abraham went nuts over them.
Have you already had the social? I would have voted salad...what if someone did not like soup...hope you made or make the salad. Rhonda
Hi Kelli! I say do the salad! You know, it might be the Ursula in me, but it seems like it would complete the meal! :)
